Austin Bragg wins dunk contest at Viking Jam

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Center Austin Bragg (Sr., Longview/Mark Morris) won the dunk contest and the Viking women took a thrilling victory in the 3-point contest at the 27th Annual Western Washington University Viking Jam held Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the WWU campus.

Bragg scored a perfect 50 on his last dunk of the final round. He beat out Jeffrey Parker (R-Fr., Richmond, CA/Salesian), who had an effort judged at 48. The other finalist was Robert Harris, Jr. (Kent/Rainier Beach), a transfer from NCAA Division I Idaho.

Katie Colard (Jr., McCleary/Elma) hit a shot at the buzzer to give the women a 45-44 win over the men in the 3-point contest. Taylor Peacocke (Fr., Kenmore/Inglemoor) hit 11 treys during her 30-second segment and Aleisha Hathaway (So., Spokane/Shadle Park) had 10.

The men were led by Evan Scholten (Fr., Bothell/Cedar Park Christian) with 11 threes and Joey Schreiber (R-Fr., Renton/Eastside Catholic) had nine.

The WWU women host Quest BC in an exhibition contest on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 4 p.m., and the men have their 21st Annual Blue/White game on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 4 p.m.
