WWU plays host to third annual Great Western Shootout in Las Vegas

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University plays host to the third annual Great Western Shootout basketball tournament with both men's and women's divisions on Thursday and Friday at the Doolittle Community Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Vikings and Central Washington are competing in both divisions. Completing the men's four-team field are Cal State Stanislaus and Cal Poly Pomona. Rounding out the women's field are Quincy IL and Dixie State UT.

Both Western squads are off to good starts with the men 6-1 and the women 6-2.

The Central men's team is ranked No.12 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students.

First-day action Thursday begins with two women's games, Central (2-7) and Dixie State (4-4) playing at 11 a.m., and Western facing Quincy (8-1) at 1 p.m. Following those contests are two men's games, Western taking on Cal State Stanislaus (4-3) at 3 p.m. and Central (5-2) meeting Cal Poly Pomona (3-2) at 5 p.m.

On Friday, the women's games are Central vs. Quincy at 11 a.m. and Western vs. Dixie State at 1 p.m. In men's action, Central meets Cal State Stanislaus at 3 p.m. and Western plays Cal Poly Pomona at 5 p.m.
