Western entertains Puget Sound on Saturday at Lake Samish

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The nationally No.1-ranked Western Washington University women's rowing team makes its only home appearance of the season Saturday (10 a.m.), April 11, entertaining University of Puget Sound in a dual meet at Lake Samish. The Vikings, rated No.1 in the latest USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association NCAA II Poll, have won national titles in each of the last four years. The Puget Sound women have made six straight appearances at the Division III nationals, placing third last spring. The Loggers are also bringing their men's team, which will compete against the Western men's club squad. Eight races are scheduled, five for the women and three for the men. During a break at 11:25 a.m., Western's newest shell will be christened the Molly K in honor of Molly Kay Koch, the granddaughter of Betty Haskell. Also being recognized on its 25th anniversary will be members of Western's women's lightweight eight that won a national title in 1984. WWU vs. UPS - Apr. 11 - Lake Samish - Bellingham, Wash.
