Western's varsity eight ranked No.1 nationally in NCAA Division II

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Western Washington University women's varsity eight moved up to No.1 in this week's USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association NCAA Division II Coaches Poll.
The Vikings, who had been No.2 in every previous poll this spring, received four first-place votes to take over the top spot in the poll from UC Davis. Florida Tech was ranked third, Rollins College fourth and Humboldt State fifth.
Western won the first head-to-head meeting with UC Davis last Sunday in the petite final at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships. The Vikings placed first in 6:58.3 and the Aggies fifth in 7:07.0.
The two teams meet again on May 17 (12:20 p.m.) in the Division II eight race at the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships.
Western was ranked No.1 nationally in the final poll last season and placed second at the first NCAA Division II National Championships.
USRowing is the non-profit membership organization recognized by the United States Olympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the U.S.
