Thirteen Vikings are GNAC At-Large Academic All-Stars

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University placed 11 women's rowers and two women's golfers on the Great Northwest Athletic Conference At-Large Academic all-star team announced today. The Vikings' Audrey Coon (Sr., Kenai, AK) was the league's top at-large scholar-athlete, maintaining a 3.96 grade point average (4.0 scale). She is a Spanish/Elementary Education major. Other Western rowers honored were Casey Mapes (So., Anchorage, AK/Service, 3.88, Physical Education), Katie Sauerbrey (So., Brush Prairie/Hockinson, 3.76, Recreation), Madeleine Eckmann (Jr., Winthrop/Liberty Bell, 3.66, Environmental Science), Daniella Armstrong (So., Eastsound/Orcas Island, 3.58, Linguistics), Alissa Schlecht (So., Corvallis, MT, 3.53, Undeclared), Sarah Seitz (So., Olympia/Avanti, 3.44, English), Katrina Ozols (So., Kodiak, AK, 3.40, Business Administration), Mariana Cains (So., Walla Walla, 3.38, Environmental Science), Erin Bean (Sr., Lynnwood/Meadowdale, 3.35, Recreation) and Kristy Theodorson (Sr., Bothell/Inglemoor, 3.26, Cellular & Molecular Biology). The two Viking golfers named were Christa Goldie (So., Mukilteo/Kamiak), 3.38, Pre-Physical Therapy) and Breanna Carmichael (Jr., Tacoma/Bellarmine Prep, 3.28, Business Administration/Marketing). To be eligible for the academic team, student-athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.20 and be in at least their second year of competition at their university. |
