BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Three members of Western Washington University's women's varsity eight shell earned Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/NCAA Division II honors announced Monday.
Coxswain Emily Davis (Jr., Carnation/Mount Si) and No.7 seat Katie Miller (Sr., Fife) were named first-team All-Americans, and bow seat Laurel Kaminski (Jr., Bellevue/Newport) was a National Scholar-Athlete.
Davis has helped the Vikings to national championship appearances the last two years, and Miller and Kaminski are making their first trip to nationals this season on May 30-31 and June 1 at Indianapolis, Ind.
A junior mathematics major from Bellevue (Newport High graduate), Kaminski maintains a 3.92 grade point average (4.00 scale). Last week, she was named to the 2003 Verizon District VIII College Division Women's At-Large Academic All-Star Team.
Western's varsity eight was ranked No.1 nationally two weeks ago in the US Rowing/NCAA II CRCA poll. The Vikings placed second in the NCAA II West Regional final at the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships and won the petite final at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships.
