WWU fourth, five shots off lead after first day at Pioneer Shootout

VALLEJO, Calif. - Western Washington University is fourth, five strokes behind the leader, following first-day action Saturday at the Cal State East Bay Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout being held at the Hiddenbrooke Golf Course. Tuesday's final round begins at 7:30 a.m. The Vikings shot 320. Cal State Monterey Bay and the host Pioneers are tied for first at 315 in the 11-team field, with George Fox third at 317. WWU's Claire Rachor (Sr., Bellingham) is in a three-way tie for fifth at 5-over par 77. The Vikings' Anna Bourland (So., Bainbridge) is tied for 13th (80), Kristen Hansen (Fr., Spokane/Mead) is tied for 19th (81), Kara Zitzman (Sr., Woodinville/Redmond) is tied for 21st (82) and Katya Case (Jr., Enumclaw) is tied for 45th (90). Tied for medalist honors at even par 72 are Kelsey Morrison from George Fox and Andrea Castellanos from Cal State East Bay. They hold a two-shot lead over Cal State Monterey Bay's Audra Kepler (75). |
