WWU drops three spots to finish seventh at CSUEB Pioneer Shootout

VALLEJO, Calif. - Western Washington University fell three spots to finish seventh at the Cal State University East Bay Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout which ended Sunday at the Hiddenbrooke Golf Course. The Vikings shot 347 for a 36-hole total of 667. Host Cal State East Bay took top honors in the 11-team tournament at 642 (327), followed by Cal State Monterey Bay at 644 (329). Those two teams were tied for first following Saturday's opening round. Academy of Art placed third at 646, shooting the day's best round of 622. WWU's Anna Bourland (So., Bainbridge) tied for 13th in medalist play at 164 (84). The Vikings' Claire Rachor (Sr., Bellingham) (91) and Kristen Hansen (Fr., Spokane/Mead) (87) were among six players tied for 22nd at 168. WWU's Kara Zitzman (Sr., Woodinville/Redmond) placed 31st at 171 (89) and Katya Case (Jr., Enumclaw) tied for 45th at 177 (87). Kelsey Morrison from George Fox OR took medalist honors by eight strokes, shooting 2-over par 74 for a 146 total. She was tied for top honors after the first round. The Vikings next compete at the Grand Canyon Spring Invitational on Apr. 1-2. |
