WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Western Washington University junior golfer Jenn Paul moved up two three spots to a tie for 17th after the first two rounds of the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf West Regional played at Wichita Falls Country Club.

Paul (Bellingham, WA) shot a 3-over-par 75 in Tuesday’s second round on the par 72, 6,149-yard layout in North Texas. The two-shot improvement from Monday’s first-round 77 puts her in seven-way tie for 17th place in the 66-player field with a 36-hole score of 8-over-par 152.

Teeing off at 8:20 am Central Time, Paul made the turn at 1-under-par shooting a 35 on the front nine. She started off the back nine with a double-bogey on No. 10 and bogey on No. 11, but finished the round at 1-over-par the rest of the way.

The top three individuals not on one of the top three teams from the tournament will advance to the 2017 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships that will be held May 17-20 at Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio. Paul is two shots back of the current score that would be the third individual to qualify for the NCAA II Championships.

“Jenn played solid today once again,” said head coach Bo Stephan. “She had a tough stretch of holes after she made the turn, but regrouped and hit the ball really well overall. Tomorrow will obviously be a big day but I think she can make a big move with a solid round of golf.”

Paul is scheduled to tee off for her final round Wednesday morning at 9:20 am CT.

Casey Wild of Tarleton State holds a two-stroke lead in the race for individual medalist honors with a 36-hole score of 1-over-par 145. West Texas A&M (+15, 591), St. Edward’s (+25, 601) and Dallas Baptist (+26, 602) have a comfortable lead over fourth-place California Baptist and Tarleton State (+32, 608) for the top three advancing spots heading into Wednesday’s final round.
