Vikings Have Tough First Day at Rose City Collegiate

AURORA, Ore. -- The Western Washington University women's golf team finished the first day of the Rose City Collegiate in 14th place playing 36 holes on Monday at Langdon Farms Golf Club.

The Vikings are 10 strokes back of 13th-place Idaho State in the 14-team field comprised mainly of Division I teams. Western finished the first two rounds at 62-over-par (638). Cal Poly leads the tournament at -2 (574). 

Senior Jenn Paul (Bellingham, WA) and junior Annie Leete (Oak Harbor, WA/Eastern Washington) are tied for 57th in the 75-player field at +13 for the tournament. Leete was the only Viking to record a pair of sub-80 rounds on the day, firing 78-79 on the par 72 course. 

Tara Finigan of tournament host Portland State University leads the field with a 36-hole score of 5-under-par 139.
