BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Two high school seniors have signed national letters of intent to play women's golf at Western Washington University, Viking coach Bo Stephan announced today.
The signees are Sophie Elstrott from South Eugene High School in Eugene, Ore., and Alexandria Taylor from Eastlake High School in Sammamish.
"We're very excited to have these girls become a part of our program," said Stephan. "They are both great students and will play a big part in the future of women's golf at Western."
Elstrott was a member of the 2007 Junior America Cup team and was selected to the 2008 North Pacific Junior Team. She won the Junior Golf Triple Eagle Open in 2007 and placed third in 2008.
Taylor placed seventh at the 2007 Class 4A state tournament. She also finished fifth at the 2007 Southern California PGA Junior Desert Tournament of Champions.
