Stephanie Sewell Named GNAC Golfer of the Week

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University women’s golfer Stephanie Sewell has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week, announced Monday from the conference office in Portland, Ore.

Sewell (Kent, WA/Kentridge) was WWU’s highest finisher, placing in a tie for 7th, at the Dixie State Fall Invitational played at Sand Hollow Golf Course in Hurricane, Utah.

The junior turned in rounds of 78 (+6) and 75 (+3) for a 36-hole score of 9-over-par 153. She helped lead the Vikings to a 6th place finish in the 10-team tournament.

The weekly conference award was the second in the career for Sewell, who also earned the honor for Oct. 24-30, 2016.

The Vikings are hosting the annual WWU Invitational at Bellingham Golf & Country Club to conclude the fall portion of the 2017-18 season. The spring season is scheduled to open Feb. 26-27, 2018 at the Lancer Shootout hosted by California Baptist at Goose Creek Golf Club in Mira Loma, Calif.
