BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University women's golf head coach Bo Stephan has announced the signing of two student-athletes to national letters of intent for the 2017-18 school year.
Katelann Soth (Bonney Lake, WA/Kentwood) and Megan Billeter (Spokane, WA/Mt. Spokane) are the signees set to join the WWU women's golf team.
"These two young players are going to be a great cornerstone for our golf team for the next four years," Stephan said. "I am so excited that we were able to sign both of them as I know they'll make an immediate impact on our program."
Soth was the South Puget Sound League North Division Player of the Year in 2015. During her junior season, she was a 4A district tournament champion and has helped the Lady Conks win the district title in three of four years. Soth placed 25th at the 4A WIAA State Championships as a freshman, 13th as a sophomore and 10th as a junior.
"What jumped out at me for Katelann was her amazing work ethic," Stephan said. "She is tireless when it comes to practicing and is extremely self-motivated."
Billeter was an All-Greater Spokane League First Team selection in 2015 and 2016. She finished 8th at 3A WIAA State Championships as a freshman, 12th as a sophomore and 9th as a junior. She helped Mt. Spokane to the WIAA 3A State Championship title during her freshman season.
"I am so excited to add her to the team next year," Stephan said of Billeter. "She's an accomplished golfer with a great athletic background. She is tremendously driven to continue to get even better and is going to be a great addition to our team for years to come."
The WWU women's golf team competed at five tournaments during the fall season and resumes its season on February 6-7 at the Point Loma Reach 2017. The Vikings have four spring tournaments scheduled prior to the GNAC Championships, which will be hosted in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho on April 24-25.
