BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University scored all of its goals off set pieces to conclude the pre-season with a 3-0 victory over University of Calgary in a women's soccer exhibition game Saturday night at Robert S. Harrington Field on the WWU campus.

WWU finished the pre-season 3-0 in its exhibitions, all against Canadian schools, winning 1-0 at British Columbia and 3-2 at Trinity Western.

Caitlyn Jobanek (So., Springfield, OR/Thurston) opened the scoring in the 12th minute. The Vikings' Elise Aylward (So., Renton/Lindbergh) sent in a free kick from 35 yards out on the left side, and Jobanek deftly volleyed the ball inside the far post with the outside of her right foot.

Brianna Jones (Sr., Bonney Lake) made the score 2-0 in the 58th minute, volleying the ball in from a goalmouth scramble following a corner kick. Becca Cates (So., Poulsbo/North Kitsap) completed the scoring in the 79th minute with an assist from Erin Russell (So., Brier/Mountlake Terrace) on a free kick.

The Vikings had a 19-1 advantage in shots, but Calgary goalkeeper Samantha Chang-Foidl kept the contest tight with six saves, and Dino defenders cleared two other shots off the goal line.

The Vikings were rated third nationally in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II Preseason Top 25 and are the favorite in the coaches' poll to take the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship.

WWU opens its regular season on Thursday, Sept. 4 (7 p.m.), at home against Humboldt State.
