Arthurs named GNAC co-Player of the Week

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University women's soccer goalkeeper Jamie Arthurs has been named Great Northwest Athletic Conference co-Player of the Week for Aug. 28-Sept. 3. It is the second weekly honor of her career.
Arthurs, a junior from Richland, had 12 saves and posted two shutouts as the Vikings opened their season with scoreless overtime ties against nationally No.2-ranked UC San Diego and Chico State. She had eight saves against UC San Diego and four versus Chico State.
The shutouts gave Arthurs 14 for her career. That ranks sixth among WWU leaders and 10th on the GNAC list.
Arthurs shared the honor with Montana State Billings forward Heidi Greenback.
Western travels to San Rafael, Calif., to face Dominican on Wednesday (1 p.m.), then returns home to meet Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday (4 p.m.) at Orca Field on the campus of Whatcom CC.
