BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University forward Catherine Miles has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 15-21.
Miles, a sophomore from Anacortes (graduate of Anacortes High School), scored twice and provided an assist as the nationally No.4-ranked Vikings cruised to a pair of road victories over Northwest Nazarene 3-0 and Montana State Billings 4-1 to remain undefeated in five games this season.
"Catherine makes an impact in every game with her work rate, athleticism and composure when finishing chances in front of the goal," said WWU head coach Travis Connell. "Last weekend was no exception."
Miles leads WWU with nine points, and is tied for team honors in goals and assists with three each.
Last year, Miles was named GNAC Freshman of the Year as she led WWU in points with 25 and assists with seven and tied for the team lead in goals with nine.
