BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Two members of the Western Washington University women's soccer team were second-team selections on the 2009 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/NCAA Division II West Region All-Star Team announced today. They are Kylie Broadbent (Spokane/Lewis & Clark), a senior goalkeeper, and Kelly Irving (Gig Harbor), a senior midfielder.

Irving had eight assists, tying a school career record that had stood for 25 years with a four-year total of 26. She also scored three goals, all game winners.

Broadbent had a 0.77 goals against average and eight shutouts.

Both Broadbent and Irving were NSCAA West Region all-stars last year, Broadbent being picked to the first team and Irving chosen to the second team.

Irving also was a second-team Daktronics all-region and first-team Great Northwest Athletic Conference honoree this fall, with Broadbent being a second-team all-league pick.

Selected to the third team was Viking defender Alicia Patten.

Western finished 11-4-4 overall, going unbeaten in its final seven games (5-0-2), and placed second in the GNAC at 8-1-3.
