BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University defender Brianna Jones (Jr., Bonney Lake) was named a first-team Daktronics NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-American in an announcement made Wednesday.
The trio has helped WWU make the program's first Final Four appearance. On Thursday (11 a.m. PT), the Vikings face defending national champion West Florida in a national semifinal at Evans, Georgia.
Jones, who earned Great Northwest Athletic Conference Defender of the Year accolades, heads a defense that ranks sixth nationally in goals against average (0.36), No.11 in shutout percentage (.636), and No.13 in save percentage (.869). She has scored four goals and assisted on one.
Maris has 10 goals, three of them game winners, and eight assists. The GNAC Player of the Year, she is tied for ninth among WWU career leaders in goals with 27 and is tied for sixth in assists with 19.
Miles ranks 15th nationally and tops the GNAC in goals with 15, five of them game winners. She already ranks 11th among school career leaders with 24 goals.
Jones, Maris and Miles were all first-team Daktronics West Region all-stars.
The Vikings, ranked No.9 nationally in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/NCAA II Top 25, are the GNAC regular-season and West Region champions. They have a 20-1-1 record with the win total being a school season best.
Sports information directors from NCAA II schools selected the three Daktronics All-America teams.
