BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Four Western Washington University women's soccer players were second-team picks on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II West Region All-Star Team announced Wednesday.
The Viking foursome included junior goalkeeper Jamie Arthurs (Richland), senior midfielder Justina MacDowell (Bellevue/Sammamish), senior defender Alicia Patten (Seattle/Holy Names) and senior defender Emily Warman (Sedro-Woolley).
Patten was a third-team pick each of the last two years. She, along with Warman and Arthurs, helped the Vikings to a 0.59 goals against average and 11 shutouts. Both figures led the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
It was the second straight year that Arthurs had a school record-tying 11 shutouts, ending the season with a scoreless streak of 476 minutes and 43 seconds. She had a NCAA II 13th-ranked and GNAC-best 0.55 GAA, with 44 saves and a .815 save percentage.
During her three-year career, Arthurs has a 0.69 GAA and 23 shutouts. She has made 133 saves with a save percentage of .821.
MacDowell scored four goals, leading the team with three game winners.
Arthurs and Patten also received second-team Daktronics West Region all-star recognition. They were named first-team GNAC all-stars along with MacDowell and Warman.
WWU, coached by Travis Connell (9 years, 101-55-19), finished 10-5-3 overall and tied for second place in the GNAC at 9-4-1. The Vikings were unbeaten in their last five games (4-0-1), not allowing a goal during that stretch.
