KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii - Western Washington University lost twice, 3-2 and 5-2, to University of Hawaii Hilo in a softball doubleheader Tuesday at the Old Kona Airport.

The Vikings fell to 3-5 and UHH improved to 5-3.

In the first game, UHH scored all three of its runs, two of them unearned, in the bottom of the first inning.

WWU had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when pitcher Alexie Levin (Fr., Everett) tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Kristen Allen (Sr., Arlington).

The Vikings' other run came in the fourth on a two-out single by Meghan Carrillo (Jr., Prunedale, CA).

Levin and Carrillo each had two hits in the contest.

Levin fell to 1-2 despite allowing just four hits. She struck out three and walked two.

In the second game, WWU got on the scoreboard first with two unearned runs in the top of the fourth. But UHH scored four times in the bottom of that frame.

Allie Crowe (So., Auburn/Thomas Jefferson) and Haylee Baker (Jr., Poulsbo/Bainbridge) each had two hits for the Vikings.

WWU pitcher Anisa Wingsness (Fr., North Bend/Mount Si) took her second loss in as many decisions.

The Vikings next compete at the Montana State Billings Desert Stinger on Friday thru Sunday at Las Vegas, Nevada.
