Western blanked 3-0 by Montana State Billings in Saturday's opener

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University was blanked for the second straight game, losing 3-0 to Montana State University Billings in the opener of a Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball doubleheader Saturday at Viking Field on the WWU campus.
The Vikings dropped to 6-3 overall, all of them conference games. They have not scored in the last 15 innings.
MSUB improved to 15-8 overall and took over first place in the GNAC at 8-3. Rebekah Tsatsa pitched a three-hit shutout for the Yellowjackets, stranding eight runners as she walked four, hit one batter and struck out eight. The win evened her record at 4-4.
MSUB scored the game's first run in the top of the second inning when Whitney Whittemore had a two-out single, stole second and crossed the plate on a single by Amanda Goings.
The Yellowjacket's Steph Gosselin led off the fourth with her seventh home run of the season, a line drive over the leftfield fence.
In the fifth, Goings had a leadoff single, advanced to second on an error and scored on a fielder's choice by Dawn Norcross.
Goings had two hits in the contest.
Western pitcher Sarah McEnroe (Jr., Woodinville) had her record drop to 4-2, giving up just five hits.
