Former student-athlete to give biology seminar at WWU on Wednesday

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Former Western Washington University softball standout Candace Adamo Parchen will be giving a seminar entitled "The Effect of Phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitors on Dystrophic Hearts" on Wednesday (Feb. 10) at 4 p.m. in the Biology Building, Room 234, on the WWU campus. Adamo-Parchen is a 2004 graduate of Western with a bachelors of science degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology. She is currently a Ph.D candidate in the department of Pharmacology at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Adamo-Parchen lettered four years as an outfielder for the Vikings from 2000 to 2003, having a career batting average of .308 (101-for 328). She played in 146 games, making 102 starts, and was successful on 43 of 47 steal attempts (91 percent). Adamo-Parchen, who helped Western to the NCAA Division II West Regional in 2003, was a three-time league academic all-star and was a Verizon District VIII academic pick in 2002. |
