Western Washington University shortstop Haylee Baker has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Softball co-Player of the Week for March 16-23.
Baker, a senior from Poulsbo (graduate of Bainbridge High School), hit four home runs and drove in 12 runs as the Vikings split a four-game series at Montana State Billings.
With a homer in each of those contests, Baker set a school record for consecutive games hitting a home run.
In all, Baker had eight hits in 17 at bats for a .471 batting average and a slugging percentage of 1.176.
Baker shared the GNAC weekly honor with Western Oregon designated player Raina Reece.
On the season, Baker is hitting .373 (22-for-59) with 24 runs batted in and 21 runs scored. She has five home runs and five doubles.
WWU, 13-8 overall and 5-5 in GNAC action, is at home Friday (1 p.m.) for a conference doubleheader with arch-rival Central Washington.
