BELLINGHAM, Wash. -
Western Washington University second baseman Kaleigh Keating has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for March 24-30.
Keating, a senior from Salinas, Calif. (graduate of Notre Dame Salinas High School), had seven hits in 17 at bats, including a game-ending two-out single in the ninth inning of a 4-3 win over Central Washington as the Vikings swept doubleheaders with the Wildcats and Simon Fraser.
Keating's hit against Central was her third of the contest. Earlier, with the Vikings trailing 2-0 in the fifth, she singled to drive in WWU's first run. She also had two stolen bases, increasing her career total to 35, which ranks 14th in GNAC history.
WWU, 17-8 overall and 9-5 in GNAC action, is riding a season-best six-game winning streak. The Vikings next play Sonoma State on Thursday (4 p.m.) at Turlock , Calif., before competing in the Cal State Stanislaus Tournament of Champions on Friday through Sunday.
