WWU's Fox named GNAC Pitcher of the Week
April 2, 2012
BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University softball player Stephanie Fox is the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for March 25 to Apr. 1.
Fox, a senior from Sammamish (graduate of Eastlake High School), did not allow an earned run in 14 innings at the Tournament of Champions in splitting two complete-game decisions. She allowed just eight hits, walked three and struck out four.
Fox pitched a four-hit shutout in defeating nationally No.20-ranked UC San Diego, 1-0. She drove in the winning run with a double in the top of the seventh inning.
When she wasn't pitching in the tourney, Fox played shortstop for the Vikings. She hit .407 (7-for-17) with three doubles and five runs scored.
On the season, Fox has a 3-5 record with a team-best 3.20 ERA and is hitting .288.
WWU, which won two of seven games at the TOC, is 8-25 overall.
The Vikings return to GNAC action this weekend, entertaining Saint Martin's University in doubleheaders on Friday (1 p.m.) and Saturday (12 noon).
