Western Washington University outfielder Meghan Carrillo has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Softball co-Player of the Week for March 31-Apr. 6 and was picked to the Cal State Stanislaus Tournament of Champions all-tournament team.
Carrillo, a senior from Prunedale, Calif. (graduate of North Monterey County High School), led the Vikings to a 5-1 record and the Gold Bracket semifinals at the 13th Annual TOC. She was 6-for-16 with a team-high six runs batted in.
Carrillo shared the honor with Central Washington catcher Austin Wilkerson (So., Ferndale/Sehome).
Carrillo has hit .479 (23-for-48) in her hast 16 games, driving in 12 runs and scoring seven. She leads the GNAC in on-base percentage at .494 and ranks second in batting at .438.
WWU, 22-10 overall and 9-5 in GNAC action, entertains Western Oregon in a GNAC doubleheader on Friday (1 p.m.) at Viking Field. The Vikings, who have won 11 of their last 13 games, are 7-1 at home this season.
