Renovated Viking Field to be formally dedicated Saturday
April 27, 2012
BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University's recently fully renovated softball field will be formally dedicated on Saturday, Apr. 28, in a ceremony beginning at approximately 11:50 a.m., prior to the Vikings' doubleheader with Western Oregon University. WWU President Bruce Shepard and WWU Foundation Board President Jerry Thon will toss the ceremonial first pitches. Altogether the project is worth about $1.2 million, with about three quarters of that coming from donated work and material. The rest came from donations of cash as no state funds were used in the project. Before the second game, four WWU seniors playing in their final contest will be recognized. They are first baseman/designated hitter Krista Bickar (Hoquiam), outfielder Jessica Carey (Everett), third baseman Jordan Emmil (Colville) and pitcher/shortstop Stephanie Fox (Sr., Sammamish/Eastlake). |
