Berry named Capital One Academic All-District

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University softball outfielder/first baseman Rachelle Berry has been named to the Capital One Academic/NCAA Division II District 8 team. The all-district honorees advance to the Academic All-America Team ballot where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. District 8 is made up of the California Collegiate Athletic Association, Great Northwest Athletic Conference and Pacific West Conference. Berry, a junior from Alger (graduate of Burlington-Edison High School), is a general studies major with a 3.41 grade point average (4.0 scale). Berry was earlier named a GNAC academic all-star and received honorable mention all-league honors. She had a .313 batting average, driving in 17 runs and scoring 14. Berry had a .987 fielding average, committing just two errors in 159 chances. Nominations and voting for the Capital One Academic All-America program are conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. |
