BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University outfielder Michelle Wrigley has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for May 2-8.

A junior from Bothell (graduate of Inglemoor High School), Wrigley had seven hits in 13 at bats with four runs scored and five runs batted in as the Vikings split a four-game, season-ending series at Montana State Billings.

In Friday's first game, Wrigley tied a Western record with two home runs, the first of her three-year career. She had entered the contest without a home run in 133 previous games and 411 official at bats.

Western finished its season with a 27-25 record, winning 14 of its last 22 games. During that stretch, Wrigley hit .419, 26-for-62, to finish second on the team with a .303 batting average. She was the Vikings' leading hitter in each of the previous two seasons.

Wrigley currently ranks fifth among Western's career batting leaders with a .335 average (142-for-424).
