BELLINGHAM, Wash. -
Western Washington University pitcher Erika Quint (Sr., Central Kitsap/Silverdale) was selected to the 2011 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA Division II West Region All-Star second team announced Thursday.
Quint set eight season school records, including wins (28), innings pitched (234-2/3), strikeouts (290), consecutive wins (19), appearances (42), starts (34), games with 10 or more strikeouts (12) and consecutive scoreless innings (22-1/3). And, she established a WWU game standard for strikeouts with 16.
Quint (28-7) also led Western in earned run average (2.09), complete games (21) and shutouts (7).
Despite playing just two years after transferring from Olympic CC, Quint finished second among school career leaders in strikeouts (438), tied for third in shutouts (10), fourth in wins (39) and fifth in both complete games (36) and innings pitched (379-1/3).
On Wednesday, Quint received first-team Daktronics West Region all-star honors and last week she was named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and a first-team conference all-star for the second straight year.
Western finished 36-16, placed second in the GNAC standings at 24-11 and was the No.5 seed at the West Regional, making its first post-season appearance in four years. During the regular season, the Vikings were ranked No.6 nationally and No.1 in the regional rating, both school bests.
