Softball Opens Fall Season This Weekend

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Defending Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball champion Western Washington University will open its fall exhibition season this weekend with a doubleheader Saturday at Seattle University and host Edmonds Community College in a doubleheader Sunday at Viking Field. 

Sunday's doubleheader at Viking Field is scheduled to start at noon, while the games in Seattle on Saturday are scheduled to be played at 1 & 3 pm at Logan Field.

"We are a very young squad however with young comes energy and that energy has been very productive so far this fall," said eighth-year head coach Amy Suiter. "I am looking forward to the opportunity to get this team out on the field and see what it is we still have to work on. These fall games are a great opportunity to play with lineups and really get a sense of where this team can and will be come season."

Here is a look at the fall schedule for the Vikings, with all games and statistics not counting towards the 2018 season.

The 2018 season officially begins with the Desert Stinger Classic in Las Vegas Feb. 2-4. WWU's first home game is scheduled for March 2 & 3, with back-to-back doubleheaders hosting Northwest Nazarene in the GNAC opener. The complete schedule can be viewed below:
