Hutchinson repeats as GNAC Defensive Player of the Week

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University libero Samantha Hutchinson has been named Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 9-15. Hutchinson, a sophomore from University Place (graduate of Curtis High School), had 35 digs as the Vikings held their opponents to a .098 hitting percentage in sweeps of Montana State Billings and defending GNAC champion Seattle Pacific. Hutchinson also had three aces as WWU had a 28-11 point advantage from the service line, including an 18-2 edge in aces. It is the second straight week that Hutchinson has earned the honor. She received honorable mention recognition three weeks ago. The Vikings, 9-1 overall and tied for the GNAC lead at 2-0, are on the road for two league matches this week, traveling to Northwest Nazarene on Thursday, Sept. 20, and to Central Washington on Saturday, Sept. 22. |
