WWU's Laurie Yearout named Red Lion/GNAC Offensive Player of the Week

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University setter Laurie Yearout has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 28-Nov. 3. Yearout, a senior from Spokane (graduate of Lewis & Clark High School), had 67 assists (11.17 avg. per set) in leading the Vikings to sweeps of Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Fairbanks. WWU hit for a .277 percentage in the two contests, remaining unbeaten at home in eight matches and improving to an overall 20-3 record and league-leading 13-2 mark. Yearout also converted on five of nine kill attempts, had four blocks and 11 digs. Yearout ranks fourth nationally among NCAA Division II assist leaders (12.05, 940) and is fourth on the WWU all-time career list with 2,927 assists.
