BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Middle blocker Emily Boerger (Sr., Marysville/Marysville-Pilchuck) was recognized for the third time, leading three members of the Western Washington University volleyball team named to the 2013 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Academic All-Stars in a release Wednesday, Nov. 20, by the conference office.

Honored for the second time were outside hitter Kelsey Moore (Jr., Bellevue/Newport) and middle blocker Kayla Erickson (Jr., Gig Harbor/Peninsula).

Boerger is an anthropology and biology major who is maintaining a 3.89 grade point average (4.0 scale). Earlier she received CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District honors and is a candidate for Academic All-American recognition.

Moore is a psychology major with a 3.42 GPA, and Erickson is a business administration-management concepts major with a 3.31 GPA.

Erickson ranks fourth among NCAA Division II national statistical leaders in attack percentage at .394 and currently tops school career leaders in attack percentage at .366. She is 22nd nationally in blocks per set at 1.22.

Erickson is averaging 3.62 kills per set, Moore 2.88 and Boerger 2.14 on .349 hitting.

To qualify for the academic team, student-athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.20 and be in at least the second year of competition at their university.

WWU, ranked No.10 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association/NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll, is 22-3 overall and leading the GNAC at 15-2.
